Bring Back Titan Football

Promoting the Reinstatement of the Cal State Fullerton Football Team

Bringbacktitanfootball.com is a website dedicated to the reinstatement of the Cal State Fullerton Football Team to active and competitive status. No matter if the team was winning championships or experiencing a difficult season, many students, alumni and fans were supportive of the program up until its suspension. We believe that reinstating the Cal State Fullerton Football Team will provide a greater sense of pride and cohesiveness among current students, alumni and the community at large in the greater Orange County, California area. One of the main arguments for the suspension of the Cal State Fullerton Football program in 1992 was overall apathy and a lack of fan support. We believe that apathy no longer exists in today's climate. By reading this passage and by visiting this website you have taken a positive step forward towards eventually bringing back the Titan Football program.

Former Titan Football Coach Now Head Coach of Oakland Raiders

Add the name Tom Cable to the long list of football coaches that formerly coached at Cal State Fullerton who are now prominent coaches in the National Football League. Coming on the heels of the firing of Lane Kiffin by Raiders owner Al Davis, Tom Cable was elevated to the position of interim Head Coach for the Silver and Black. Cable coached the offensive line at Cal State Fullerton in 1990 before accepting the same position at UNLV the following year.

See Tom Cable’s Official Bio HERE.

Cable is only the second former Cal State Fullerton coach to become a head coach in the NFL. The other is Steve Mariucci who coached the San Francisco 49ers and the Detroit Lions and is now an analyst for the NFL Network.

Other notable coaches who cut their teeth while at Fullerton include Ed Donatell who is currently the Defensive Coordinator for the Washington Huskies but served in that same role for the NFL’s Denver Broncos, Green Bay Packers and Atlanta Falcons. Hue Jackson, currently the Baltimore Ravens quarterbacks coach served as offensive coordinator for both the Washington Redskins and Atlanta Falcons. Jim Colletto who was the Cal State Fullerton Head Football Coach from 1975–1979 is now the Offensive Coordinator for the Detroit Lions.

Video: Football Returns to CSU Pueblo

Colorado State University at Pueblo returned it’s football team to full and active status after a 24-year hiatus. The team is in it’s first year of competition and the Thunderwolves are 2-0 on the season.

Just take a look at the video below and then tell me that football does not inject a level of excitement, spirit and camaraderie unequaled by any other collegiate sport.

Mike Pringle Featured in LA Times Article

Despite laying dormant since 1992, the Cal State Fullerton Football legacy stills lives on within its former players. Los Angeles Times sports columnist Jerry Crowe published an outstanding article detailing Mike Pringle’s spectacular football playing career not only at Cal State Fullerton but as the Canadian Football League’s leading rusher of all time. This Saturday, Cal State Fullerton’s own Mike Pringle will be inducted into the Canadian Football League’s Hall of Fame. While a Titan Football player, Pringle ran for 2,223 yards in two seasons at Cal State Fullerton and led the nation in all-purpose yards as a senior during the 1989 season.

Jerry Crowe: Mike Pringle found fame in Canadian game

Congratulations Mike! You make us proud to not only be Titans but to continue with this effort to bring back Titan Football. Maybe one day another outstanding player will come from Fullerton to be our next Hall of Famer just like you.

Wichita State Attempting To Bring Back Football.

Don’t look now but it seems that our effort to bring back Titan Football is contagious.

Backers of Wichita State have created BringBackShockerFootball.com, a website much like this one, dedicated to restoring the Shocker Football program to active and competitive status. Wichita State is a university similar to Cal State Fullerton in that it has a rich and powerful college baseball tradition but its fans can not watch their team place college football.

The Bring Back Titan Football committee wishes the Bring Back Shocker Football committee the best of luck and future success in their campaign. Maybe if both programs are reinstated, they can make a tradition of playing each other on a home and away basis every year?
