Former Titan Football Coach Now Head Coach of Oakland Raiders

Raiders Coach Tom CableAdd the name Tom Cable to the long list of football coaches that formerly coached at Cal State Fullerton who are now prominent coaches in the National Football League. Coming on the heels of the firing of Lane Kiffin by Raiders owner Al Davis, Tom Cable was elevated to the position of interim Head Coach for the Silver and Black. Cable coached the offensive line at Cal State Fullerton in 1990 before accepting the same position at UNLV the following year.

Cable is only the second former Cal State Fullerton coach to become a head coach in the NFL. The other is Steve Mariucci who coached the San Francisco 49ers and the Detroit Lions and is now an analyst for the NFL Network.

Other notable coaches who cut their teeth while at Fullerton include Ed Donatell who is currently the Defensive Coordinator for the Washington Huskies but served in that same role for the NFL’s Denver Broncos, Green Bay Packers and Atlanta Falcons. Hue Jackson, currently the Baltimore Ravens quarterbacks coach served as offensive coordinator for both the Washington Redskins and Atlanta Falcons. Jim Colletto who was the Cal State Fullerton Head Football Coach from 1975 – 1979 is now the Offensive Coordinator for the Detroit Lions.
