Long Beach State Now Wants Football Too

Back in September we told you of a movement out in Kansas to resurrect the defunct Wichita State Shocker Football program. Now comes news that Cal State Fullerton’s longtime rival, Long Beach State, wants football back too.

The organizers of the effort have already started their own website, bringback49erfootball.com, and are actively recruiting members to join in their cause. From many vantage points, the Long Beach effort looks to be a mirror image of the current effort students and alumni are advancing in order to bring back Titan Football.

Despite being a huge rival of Cal State Fullerton, those that support the return of Titan football should support the return of 49er football. Long Beach State is one of CSUF’s biggest rivals (UC Irvine being the other) and if football returns to Long Beach before it is brought back to Fullerton, that would put tremendous pressure on Fullerton to bring back football.

No matter which school reinstates football first, it will be a victory for both.
