Video: Murphy, Allen Inducted Into Titan Athletics Hall Of Fame

This past Saturday both Coach Gene Murphy and QB Damon Allen were inducted into the Titan Athletics Hall of Fame. Joining Murphy and Allen in the 2009 class were Dan Boone (Titans Baseball), Connie Clark (Titans Softball) and Barbara Myslak-Roetert (Titans Gymnastics). Congratulations to all five. In the video keep an eye out at the 1:45 mark for when Gene Murphy throws his support behind our effort to Bring Back Titan Football.

It was a deeply inspiring and profoundly moving event. I am so glad I was there to experience it. Gene Murphy and Damon Allen said it best, there is no better way to cultivate a sense of community and family then having a football team on a college campus. A division 1-AA football program supported by a graduated student fee referendum is totally feasible and could restore the Titan football tradition. Cal Poly SLO, U.C.Davis, and Sacramento State await us.

There is a lot of pride that a student has in their school, and even moreso in their teams. Even fair-weather fans get behind their own teams. In times like these, it’d be great to have something to take pride in. Why should USC be the only school with banners flying high during football season?
